Ahh, wonderful Thursday. Time to reminisce on our favourite wedding details!

We are lucky enough to have some very talented people in our lives, and we had a long enough engagement to find and plan for lots of personal touches.

Our wedding was in the middle of nowhere in the mountains of Idaho – so Laura’s mum very kindly lent us her time and sign-making skills to get everyone to the location from the main road. They are so pretty, and some of the most photographed things on the day!                                        One day we will bring this one ^ back to hang in our home!
Aren’t they amazing?
We decided to do a first look because we thought we’d have enough emotion during the ceremony without seeing each other for the first time then, so wanted to have a private moment together to see each other in our wedding dresses beforehand. And boy are we glad we did, because we were less nervous for the ceremony, and enjoyed the whole day more!
Also, this dock was just begging for a first look!
Waiting….
Happy Sunday!
We are ecstatic to finally be able to share our professional wedding photos with you!
It’s so much fun reliving our day – can’t believe we’ve already been married for over four months!
It was a no-brainer for us to wake up together and get ready (mostly) together on our wedding day. As we were getting married at 5pm, we felt like if we were separate, we would have missed each other all day, and on what was to be our best day, it made more sense to have our very best friend (each other) by our sides. Also, as our bridesmaids were ‘joint’, we didn’t really have girls who would naturally stay with one of us.
The above is Riverside Lodge – our venue, and where half of our abroad guests stayed for the three days we were up there. You’ll see more of it in our ‘details’ post!
When we woke up the morning of our wedding and looked outside, it was drizzling slightly, and we thought we had come all the way to the other side of the world to escape a rainy England wedding, and… ended up with a rainy England wedding! That would have been alright of course, but we were really relieved when the clouds broke up and the sun peaked through – the weather we had hoped for!
Aren’t the Idaho mountains incredible?
Funnily enough, Laura ended up getting in trouble on our wedding day – she went off with her mum to help put up the gorgeous signs her mum made, some bonding time, and ended up being away for over an hour! She arrived back to a stormy faced Sarah – who had even sent a bridesmaid to look for Laura! Luckily a kiss and all was forgiven.

So we’re back, we’re MARRIED and we are so excited to finally have a chance to update this blog of ours! Thank you for sticking with us in our absence, we hope you have enjoyed the pictures on Instagram and intermittent twitter updates!

It is fair to say we had the time of our lives (queue music) and we did it surrounded by the friends and family we love the most. As you will know from our previous post, we crammed a fair bit into our two and a half weeks and with over 3000 photos collected from our nearest and dearest – we will be reliving the experience for weeks to come, which coincidentally is when our official photos are due back!

We still haven’t figured out quite how best to share the memories in the blog but we thought we would start with a quick run down of our top 10 highlights (in no real order, besides of course the first one!), then we’ll follow this up with the stories in the coming weeks!

1) The Wedding:
It was perfect. The entire day was fabulous but the wedding came together better than we could have dreamed. From the decoration in our mountain hideout to the flower heart that hung above our heads at the ceremony. Looking out a sea of faces, some wiping away tears, and then into the eyes of my gorgeous wife looking more beautiful than I have ever seen her. This is the stuff of love songs and dreams and in the words of John Legend I couldn’t stop saying ‘all of me, loves all of you’.

The kiss!

2) First look, and bridal photo shoot pre-Wedding:
It was just us, well us and our amazing photographers, but in our own world. From our first look to our separation to walk down the aisle I couldn’t stop beaming.

The first professional pic we’ve seen!

3) The Pink Night in Vegas:
This night stands out for all the right Vegas reasons. A simple theme that united the group was helped with the addition of pink and purple wedding personalised sunglasses.

Our group all met in the Friends Cafe in Vegas

4) 4th of July Fireworks in McCall
My first and a trip down memory lane for my wife. This celebration brought an end to an amazing few days in the mountains and ended with an awesomely non-ironic patriotic chant of ‘USA, USA, USA’ – there was no denying where we were! Oh and I can’t forget the mini firework display we held at our own cabin courtesy of L’s little bro, Jason.

4th of July at McCall

5) Dinner / hanging out with Jason:
A notable event in itself but as Jas is a busy man and we haven’t got to see much of him in our last few Boise trips so after fitting us with proper trainers at his New Balance store we headed for dinner (the seriously amazing 3 cheese mac and cheese at Applebee’s) before checking out the new Boise Mall and being very impressed with the fountains that danced to music. Not quite the Bellagio but still worth seeing!

6) Calvin Harris in VEGAS!!!!
So this happened by chance – a few weeks before we went, Jason found out Calvin was playing at the EDC in Vegas and was doing an after show at Hakkasan. It was awesome!

7) Bridal Shower:
Vegas was brilliant! Everyday in Vegas was glorious sunshine, every night was a party, but on our final full day our marvelous Bridesmaid Kate had organised an area in the Mirage for a pool party with all our guests. My fantastic sister led the way with a pub quiz (I’ll go into that more later) and we were presented alcoholic cupcakes…….and then the night was led by our wonderful Bridesmaid Alison and her ever-so-helpful (and our Usher) boyfriend Dave!

We were on top of the world, we rode a bull and we stuffed ourselves with cake! A great day all in all!

8) Pampering with our Mum’s:
Once we had reunited with L’s Mum on arrival in Boise we announced that we had a surprise and took our Mums off to have a pre-wedding manicure and pedicure at a cute boutique just outside the city. We had a great time coordinating colours, having a foot massage and recalling our Vegas memories as well as all the wedding plans. It was such a nice, calm time that allowed us to relax with our special ladies.

9) Being in the water (Jetskiing, whitewater rafting, floating the Boise river):
I knew Boise in the summer would be all about the outdoors, but in fact we were all about the water.

10) Pub quizzes:
I love a pub quiz and it turns out it runs in the family. As I mentioned my sister started our Bridal shower with one and I did my own pub quiz at our welcome BBQ. It was such a good way of getting everyone together!

Oh and then there was Seattle – so many highlights, Ice Cream alley in McCall, ChuckaRama, the Sugar Factory, the limo ride, the Mirage and it’s amazing pools, Boo-Hood our friend at NY airport, the amazing gifts and messages, the wedding lodges, the after dinner dances, the speeches, the late night BBQ’s, s’mores and beer pong………

OK until next time, it’s nice to be back!

Here’s the plan for those of you who have asked, or for those who maybe interested! For obvious reasons (WE ARE GETTING MARRIED) this blog is going to be very quiet for the next few weeks but you can keep up to date on whats happening.
Thank you to those of you already following we love to read your comments and thank you so much for the love and support!

Monday 14th July: Okay we’re done, it’s over, back to the real world and starting our lives as Mrs & Mrs Smith!See you when we get back!

OK – trying to do anything that isn’t wedding related or talk about anything non-wedding is impossible! I am that person, we are that couple! It’s the last week before we go and the wedding is literally EVERYTHING!

This is not to say that we are intentionally making this week all about us, but we are still running around like mad women and the wedding seems to be the main reason – that and the epic holiday we are about to embark on! Oh and the fact that we have 16 other people descending on Vegas with us and  57 coming to the wedding itself!

It’s less than two weeks to go! That’s right, 2 weeks!!! Did we miss the last 18 months? I swear my life is just flying by – but when you have been waiting for something so long, it is amazing how long 2 weeks seems.

Right now, and I’m not sure either of us should admit this (what, with work and such still going on), it is hard to do anything but think of wedding stuff. Neither of us want to miss a moment and that means that we are distracted with thoughts of the wedding at pretty much ANY time. Seriously, people at work have stopped asking about the wedding now as they fear that they will be caught in a monologue about all the exciting things we’ve been doing!
